We recently seized the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of events as part of the Web3 Festival in Hong Kong, demonstrating to existing and future partners how our zero-knowledge (ZK) identity layer solves many challenges in today’s market.
What is The Hong Kong Web3 Festival?
The annual Hong Kong Web3 Festival, co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and HashKey Group, is the leading event for regional leaders in the crypto industry to converge and discuss the industry’s future. Running from April 6–9, 2024, the event brought together the world’s brightest minds, top Web3 projects and leading venture capitals presenting content-rich discussions and topics centered around Web3.
The Festival is also somewhat unique in that the Hong Kong government was keen to foster discussion into their latest digital asset regulation policies, demonstrating their increasing willingness to work with the crypto industry for mutual benefit.
zkMe Highlights at The Hong Kong Web3 Festival
With over 50,000 attendees, 100 exhibitors and nearly 200 side events, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive account of the entire festival, however several highlights for zkMe included the following:

The “Future of Identity” side event hosted by zkMe
The highlight of our week was hosting our very first solo event at the German Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, which was titled “The Future of Identity”. Designed to educate and thank our existing partners, the event was a small but significant step in communicating our expanded vision in becoming the leading identity layer in web3.
Fintech Association of Hong Kong Panel
Alex Scheer represented zkMe as a panelist at an event organized by the Fintech Association of Hong Kong. The Association’s Web3 / Blockchain committee’s panel was titled “Transforming Finance With the Power of Blockchain Infrastructure”. Along with guests from Scroll Foundation and Mantra, Alex shared insights on the future evolution of blockchain infrastructure, including, regulatory considerations, Hong Kong’s role in adoption, and the societal benefits of these transformative changes.
zkMe booth at Oak Grove Crypto 2024
Prior to the main event at the HK Web3 Festival, we also participated at the Oak Grove Crypto 2024 event with a booth. Positioned as a converge point for thought leaders, innovators, and pioneers in the web3 space, it was an ideal opportunity to showcase our state-of-the-art zero-knowledge architecture with our peers.
Ecosystem Support
With the Web3 Festival being on our “home” turf of Hong Kong, it was only natural for us to support the event and its ethos of growing the burgeoning ecosystem in the region. We demonstrated this with our sponsorship of the Open Stage which featured a broad range of speeches and panels with topics including tokenisation, how to manage emotions trading crypto, valuation of digital assets and topical content such as the staking and re-staking narrative.
In addition to this, we also took up the opportunity to co-sponsor IOST’s evening event, “2024 Web3 HK Night.” IOST is a public blockchain attempting to tackle the scalability trilemma for a variety of niches including DeFi, NFTs and real world assets (RWA). The event highlighted their “Hong Kong Ecosystem Specialist Team” which features experts from various fields and is intended to provide customized support including funding, marketing , and strategy to projects based in Hong Kong.
Despite a hectic week, we were delighted to spend more time with new and potential partners, and were encouraged by the accelerating interest in identity solutions that are fully decentralized, private-by-design and compliant with global AML requirements. We can’t wait to share more on how we aim to become the zk-identity layer powering web3.
